Romans 10:9 “That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” The word ‘saved’ in Greek is ‘Sozo’ which means salvation and its other meanings are:
(a) forgiveness of sin,
(b) healing or health,
© peace,
(d) prosperity,
(e) eternal life and
(f) blessing.
So, the one word ‘Sozo’ not only means forgiveness of sins but it also includes healing, health, peace, prosperity, eternal life, and blessings.
But when one talks of Salvation only as forgiveness of sins, then it is too shallow because it is just like a father who has a hundred crores in his bank account, and although the son is entitled for the entire amount but spends only a few lakhs for the rest of his life and struggles for list of the things. Here, it is not the father’s fault, rather it’s the ignorance on the part of the son to not fully utilize what the father has in store for him. Exactly in the same manner, in the body of Christ, there are those who preach salvation is just the forgiveness of sins; which is a partial truth and partial lie because Christ has paid a high price for us. But the problem with the body of Christ is that we have not taken advantage of enormity of the price paid by Christ on the cross.
This is exactly what has happened to many believers, they live in total ignorance of the reality of what Jesus has done for them. They say Jesus has just paid for their sins, but not paid for their sickness, poverty, curse, health, etc. Instead of taking advantage of what Jesus has done for them, they live in ignorance just like the borrower and die in their pain and sickness. Then they say that it was not the will of God for them to be healed, which is like saying that Heavenly Father is worst than earthly father which is absolute ignorance. But the reality of the matter is that Jesus had done everything and there is nothing left over to be done. Therefore 1 Corinthians 6:20 says that “you were bought at a price. Therefore, glorify God with your body.” 1 Corinthians 6:19 says that“…you are not your own.” — in other words, we dwell in God and he becomes our very existence.
In reality, we walk and move and have our being in Him. So, we ought to glorify God in our body by living in glory without sickness. Now my question to you is why did Jesus die? Good question! You may have many answers, but I have one according to Hebrews 2:10, “In bringing many sons to glory, it was fitting that God, for whom and through whom everything exists, should make the author of their salvation complete the work through suffering.” So, the ultimate purpose of the cross was to bring many sons to glory. In order for God’s purpose to prevail, it was settled even before the creation of the world that Christ will come and die in our place and to bring us back to glory.
