Matthew 1:23 states, “The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Emmanuel-which means God with us”. In Greek, the word ‘with’ is ‘meta’ meaning ‘in the midst of us’. Ever since God created Mankind, He always wanted to be in their midst, being with them eternally. Hence, God made Adam and Eve in His own image and likeness and gave them dominion over all the created things. Every day God would visit them in the cool of the day to fellowship with them. But as Adam and Eve sinned, they plunged the entire human race in the hands of the devil, which broke and destroyed their fellowship with God. On the contrary, when we read Isaiah 7:14, “Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.” Hence, when God created mankind, He had an eternal purpose of becoming one with His creation.   Now you may be wondering what do we mean by these heavenly calling? It means he comes to live inside us to make us a heavenly being and we become the house of the living God. It is the most amazing thing that happens to a born again believer. 1 Peter 1:23 says “For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.” The Greek word for ‘seed’ is ‘sperma’ and ‘word’ is ‘logos’.
