The second role of the Holy Spirit

Put a seal on you after you are saved. To understand the above-mentioned role of the Holy Spirit, let us read Ephesians 1:13, 14 “And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession — to the praise of his glory.” Who has put this seal? After we are saved, it is the   job of the Holy Spirit to put a mark and a seal upon us which cannot be broken for eternity. It is like a packet of the courier company that is sealed to be opened at the destination — no one can open it on the way unless you decide it and you are sealed exactly like that i.e., your salvation is sealed until you reach the destination- that is ‘Heaven’! Not only He seals you for heaven but constantly reminds you that you have an inheritance in heaven. So, He is the Spirit of hope who reve...

Role of the Holy Spirit

TO RECOGNISE THE INDWELLING OF THE HOLY SPIRIT T he first role of the Holy Spirit is to testify, glorify and reveal Jesus Let us read some of the scriptures to understand this role of the Holy Spirit. John 15:26 “…he (Holy Spirit) will testify about me (Jesus).” John 16:14 “He (Holy Spirit) will bring glory to me (Jesus)…” Ephesians 1:17 “…may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation (i.e., about Jesus)…” Ephesians 3:4–5 “In reading this, th e n, you will be able to understand my insight into the mystery of Christ, which was not made known to men in other generations as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to God’s holy apostles and prophets.” The most important role of the Holy Spirit is to testify and glorify Jesus. Acts 2:4 says “All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit…” In  Acts 2:14, “Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd:…”  and  Acts 2:36, “Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus...

HOLY SPIRIT HAS A WILL

The Holy Spirit has a will of His own and is on the earth to take the crucial decisions for the churches. All the gifts available for the believers are not given at random but as the Spirit wills, as mentioned in 1 Corinthians 12:11. Those working for the churches are subjected under the will of the Holy Spirit as in Acts 20:28 Paul conveyed to the elders of the church at Ephesians: “…the Holy Spirit has made you overseers…” As mentioned in Acts 15:28, at a decision-making meeting, the apostle, elders, and the Holy Spirit were present when they took a decision through the will of the Holy Spirit, and then they wrote a letter saying, “It seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us…” So we conclude that Holy Spirit has a will too. HOLY SPIRIT HAS EMOTIONS The Holy Spirit is not some unemotional entity, incapable of compassion or mercy. He is a person with feelings and a heart. Here are some of the ways in which His emotions are expressed. 1) Romans 5:5 mentions “…God has poured out hi...

How do we know that the Spirit is a person?

Jesus Christ Himself addresses Holy Spirit as a person and not as a material. When He, the Spirit of   Truth has come, He will guide you in all truth as revealed in John 16:13. Just as you have a unique personality, so does the Holy Spirit. In fact, there are characteristics ascribed to Him that only a person (i.e., being with intellect, emotion and will) can possess. Not only does He have the ability to think, communicate and express His love; He is also easily grieved by our careless words and actions. Here are some specific traits by which we would clearly know that the Holy Spirit is a person. They are as follows: HOLY SPIRIT HAS A MIND Can the Holy Spirit think? Can He remember? According to the Word of God, He has all the abilities like that of any human being. He has a mind, He has the ability to explore, examine and search. This is what the Spirit of the Lord can do. For example, we cannot understand the things that God has prepared for our future; for “…The Spirit s...

UNITY

The Triune God is expressed in the image of oneness and so we ought to have unity in the church. As the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are one in unity, we can have unity in our relationships, and because of the way the Father relates to his Son in unity, we can also relate to one another in the same way. A person who divides churches or family had not understood the oneness of the Triune God. The unity is the foundation of the Triune God because the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are united and the same can be achieved in the body of Christ. Testimony: Sometime back I was supposed to preach in a church where the spirit of the division was at work. I received specific instructions from God to preach on the unity of the church. By the grace of God bestowed upon me to deliver the sermon on the subject, as a result, the church finally got united and blessed and filled with the glory of God. TO RECOGNISE THE INDWELLING OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

The first role of the Holy Spirit to testify, glorify and reveal Jesus Let us read some of the scriptures to understand this role of the Holy Spirit. John 15:26 “…he (Holy Spirit) will testify about me (Jesus).” John 16:14 “He (Holy Spirit) will bring glory to me (Jesus)…” Ephesians 1:17 “…may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation (i.e., about Jesus)…” Ephesians 3:4–5 “In reading this, then, you will be able to understand my insight into the mystery of Christ, which was not made known to men in other generations as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to God’s holy apostles and prophets.” The most important role of the Holy Spirit is to testify and glorify Jesus. Acts 2:4 says “All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit…” In Acts 2:14, “Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd:…” and Acts 2:36, “Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ.” Now, if we carefully read ...

Who is Jehovah?

WHO IS THE ALMIGHTY JEHOVAH SEEN BY ISAIAH?  1 Timothy 6:16 tells us, “who alone is immortal and who lives in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen or can see. To him be honor and might forever. Amen.” John 1:18 says, “No one has ever seen God, but God the One and Only, who is at the Father’s side, has made him known.” John 5:37 confirms, “…You have never heard his voice nor seen his form,” According to the above verses no one has ever seen God the Father nor heard His voice and no one can ever see Him in future. Now, keeping this in mind, let us look at Isaiah 6:1 “In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord (Jehovah) seated on a throne, high and exalted, and the train of his robe filled the temple.” And _Isaiah 6:5 states, “Woe to me!” I cried. “I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the LORD Almighty.” Isaiah 6.8 states, “Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send...

The Heavenly Calling (Part 2)

Now you may be wondering what do we mean by these heavenly calling? It means he comes to live inside us to make us a heavenly being and we become the house of the living God. It is the most amazing thing that happens to a born again believer. 1 Peter 1:23 says “For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.” The Greek word for ‘seed’ is ‘sperma’ and ‘word’ is ‘logos’. When we are born again as John 3:6 says, “Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the spirit gives birth to spirit” The moment a person invites Jesus Christ to be the Lord of his life, something happens inwards, there is a conjoining of the Word and the Spirit taking place in the person who becomes a by-product of ‘sperma’ and ‘logos’ then from that day onwards the Holy Spirit comes to have permanent resident in us In John 3:8, you are compared to wind, i.e. we become unstoppable, unlimited, and a mystery to the devil. Firstly, you are compared to win...
