Glory-The very likeness of God

In the Old Testament, the word ‘Glory’ in Hebrew is ‘Kabod’ meaning’ to be heavy’ which also means to be wealthy, honoured, glorified, reward, divine health, healing, etc. Besides, the ultimate purpose of God was to create man in His image and likeness who would be the glory of Christ Jesus. So, what is this glory? God wanted something to be like Him and hence created man on the face of the earth and called him to be His glory.

Hebrews 2:7–8 says, “You made him a little lower than the angels; you crowned him with glory and honour and put everything under his feet.” In putting everything under him, God left nothing that is not subject to him…” [This verse describes the amazing glory of the first Adam. This was the position of first Adam before the fall.]

The Word of Almighty describes that everything was brought under subjection of the first Adam. The power displayed in him was simply mind-blowing as he walked in the glory of God. In order to understand what I am emphasizing here, let’s compare 1 Corinthians 11:7 with Genesis1:26.

Genesis 1:26 says, “Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, in our likeness..” and Paul is quoting the same word in 1Corinthians 11:7, “A man ought not to cover his head since he is the image and glory of God…” from the Old Testament and gives us a comparison of two verses but instead of ‘likeness’ he used the word ‘glory’. So, what is glory? It is ‘likeness’ and so we are His glory!

Why temple veil torn..?

Do you know that when Jesus Christ died, the veil on the temple was torn in two parts from top to bottom (Mark 15:38)?  The word ‘temple’ in original language is ‘Naos’ – often denotes only the innermost sacred part of the building. So, what did God want to say from the above-mentioned verse? The answer is, in the Old Testament, God’s presence was behind the veil in the innermost sacred part of the temple and in the New Testament, that presence has come out of that place and God speaks to His people by residing in their hearts. In the Old Testament, the Holy Spirit who is the third person of the Trinity, would come upon a person only for a specific time and a specific purpose and after that particular purpose was achieved and the time was over the Holy Spirit had to leave. But in the New Testament, due to the veil of the temple being torn, every believer now can be filled with the Holy Spirit.                        ...

Why did Jesus Die?

In reality, we walk and move and have our being in Him. So, we ought to glorify God in our body by living in glory without sickness. Now my question to you is why did Jesus die? Good question! You may have many answers, but I have one according to Hebrews 2:10, “In bringing many sons to glory, it was fitting that God, for whom and through whom everything exists, should make the author of their salvation complete the work through suffering.” So, the ultimate purpose of the cross was to bring many sons to glory. In order for God’s purpose to prevail, it was settled even before the creation of the world that Christ will come and die in our place and to bring us back to glory. (NB Hebrews 2:10 is the Apostle’s Version) Therefore, the entire purpose of the cross is to bring us back to glory. If we study scriptures carefully we would read in Genesis that although Adam and Eve were naked and still why they did not feel any shame? It was because they were covered with the glory of ...
